Lose 2 Pounds a Week with These 10 Easy Tricks

There are 3,500 calories in one pound.  Here are 10 easy ways to burn 7,077 extra calories (2 pounds) per week...

Exercise is the easiest way to burn calories, but what about people who don't have enough time to work out 4 hours a day?  Or maybe you want an extra little calorie burning boost?

These 10 tricks will add up to an extra 2 pounds a week of weight loss...

1.  Take the Stairs (50/Day, 350/Week)

Assuming you take 10 extra flights a day (at 10 calories a flight) you'll burn a whomping 350 calories a week.  This is five 1-story climbs (there and back), which in a two-story house or a walk-up apartment sometimes happens before noon...

2.  Eat Wheat Bread Instead of White (10/Day, 70/Week)
So this isn't the biggest change calorie-wise, but it really racks up the health benefits in terms of more fiber, less sodium, and way more nutrients.  All of this means your body will function, burn calories, and exercise with more energy and less effort.

3.  Walk the dog/cat/dinosaur 2 blocks farther than usual. (80/Day, 560/week)
Walking an extra block uses 10 calories, so going 2 blocks farther (each way) two walks a day will burn an extra 80 calories a day.

4.  Drink 4 bottles of water a day.  (100/Day, 700/Week)
This one is my personal favorite.  The simple act of drinking water does miracles for your body.  It makes your heart rate more responsive when you exericise, it revs up your metabolism, it makes digestion easier, makes you feel less tired, gets rid of headaches, makes exercise easier...I could go on for days.  Buuuuut, here's yet another one.  You burn 25 calories for each bottle of water you drink.  Yeah, normal food gives you calories?  Water takes them away.  Especially cold water.  So go forth and drink things!

5.  Stretch during commercial breaks.  (100/Day of TV, 700/Week)
In 2012 the average American watched almost 3 hours of television per day.  (Yikes!)  If you took just the commercial breaks to do some light stretching, you'd burn an extra 100 calories a day.  So use your TV addiction to fuel some weight loss.

6.  Laugh...at least 15 minutes a day. (40/Day, 280/Week)
Laughter really is the best medicine.  In fact, it actually burns calories too.  Only 15 minutes of laughing burns 40 calories, so go get your giggle on...

7.  Pace when you think about things.  (Up to 300/Day, 2100/Week)
We all pace and fidget when we're nervous, but what about when you're thinking, brainstorming, or talking on the phone?  People who fidget and pace have been known to burn up to an extra 300 calories a day.  So why fight that nervous energy?  Let it out and lose some extra calories.

8.  Do chores like laundry, cleaning, etc. (170/Day, 1190/Week)
Doing just an hour of chores a day burns a significant amount of calories.  Plus, won't you be happier when your house is shiny and clean AND you're skinny?

9.  Chew gum (11/Day, 77/Week)
So yeah it's a small number, but if you burn 11 calories per hour chewing gum it can add up...

10.  Stand up!  (150/Day, 1050/Week)
If you stand up while doing mindless tasks like working on the computer, reading, or talking on the phone (you do these at least 3 hours a day...guaranteed) you could burn some serious calories.

If you made these 10 changes over the span of a week you would burn a total of 7,077 EXTRA CALORIES.  That's more than two pounds of weight loss (in one week) from making simple, little, mindless changes.
